Hire a Kayak/Canoe/SUP at Lake Bohinj
One of the best ways to experience Lake Bohinj is to get out on to the water with either a kayak/canoe /SUP (Stand Up Paddle Board). With water splashing on your body, the sun on your back and the peaks of the Julian Alps all around you, it is hard not to fall in love with this magical place. A perfect summer time activity which is fun for the whole family.
Prices to Hire a Kayak/Canoe/SUP at Lake Bohinj
Hiring is relatively inexpensive, and there are several of operators on the lake shore who offer life jackets and all the equipment you need. Expect to pay between €9-12 per hour, with rates tapering for longer hires. Daily hire is about €40 for canoe (will often seat 3 people), €30 for a kayak (for 1) and €35 for a SUP.
Often you pay for the time hired once you return the kayak/canoe or SUP at Lake Bohinj. This means that you don’t have to make a decision on how long you want to be out for at the start. This is great if it is your first time, of if you are unsure how the kids will take to it. Do check with your operator first that they are happy with this.

More Adventures on the Water
For those who would like a more adventurous experience, why not book a kayaking adventure down the Sava Bohinka? The river you see flowing out of Lake Bohinj is called the Jezernica and is the shortest river in Slovenia (only 100m long). It then merges with the Mostnica river to form the Sava Bohinjka. The Sava Bohinjka is a popular river for mini-rafting, from beginners to those more experienced.
