Studor Viewpoint Hike
The mountain of Studor rises up steeply behind Escape to Bohinj and looks over Stara Fužina like a protective guardian. The famous Bohinj U-shaped glacial valley is formed between the southern flank of Studor and the northern flank of Rudnica, another great viewpoint hike in the area.
The path up is quite an adventure – it’s steep, narrow and winding, zig-zagging through beech forest. When you finally exit the trees and turn around, the view is breathtaking. We’ve walked up here many times, and have never shared the viewpoint with anyone else.

Directions to Studor Viewpoint
From Escape to Bohinj, cross over the bridge and turn right to follow the river upstream. Find your way up to Hudičev Most (Devil’s Bridge) and admire the drop down into the Mostnica Gorge. Don’t cross the bridge though – instead turn sharply up to the right and follow the path up to Uskovnica. It’s steep and narrow path from the outset.
After a few minutes, cross over a forest logging track and continue heading uphill, now in a slightly recessed path. Keep your eyes peeled for a small path that heads to the right after about 100m – this is your way up. The path is invigorating – steep, but rewarding, with tantalising views of the village below and mountains above through the trees. There are a few benches to rest as you climb.
Some logged-lined steps help you up the steepest sections, and finally you reach the clearing. At the top is a bench offering outstanding views over the lake and mountains. This clearing is another take-off point for paragliders, although it is not used as much as the one at Vogar.
If you wish, you can just head back down the way you have come up. You can also make a round trip of it by leaving the clearing at its northwest corner and winding down through the forest to a lovely alp, Planina Blatce. From the west end of this clearing, another path descends more gently through forest and back to Devil’s Bridge.
